The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama. Rebecca was nominated for this national honor this fall in recognition of her many hours of volunteer service including teaching and mentoring children at a therapeutic pre-school in Rhode Island.

On behalf of all of us at East Greenwich High School, I congratulate Rebecca and her family for receiving this wonderful recognition and thank her for her dedication to volunteerism. Rebecca's dedication and many hours of service are a fantastic example of the impact an empowered learner can have on countless others.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), recognizes middle level and high school students across America for their outstanding volunteer service.

  1. Congratulations Rebecca on this fine award. It takes a special person to volunteer and give of your own time (day in and day out for many years) to help others.
