EGHS Band "Public Alley" is in WBRU Rock Hunt & Needs Your Help

This message comes from Noah Barreto, Max Fertik, Zoe Hinman, and Cameron Cianciolo.

Hey Everyone,

Many of you may also know us as the band “Public Alley” from various performances over the years either at the EGHS Talent Show or at clubs across Rhode Island. We were recently honored among several other local acts to be chosen as a Wild Card Round Participant in the 2015 95.5 WBRU Rock Hunt Competition. Here, bands from around the state compete against one another, and according to the radio station’s judgement, the best groups move on to the next round. As opposed to the usual Rock Hunt rounds though, this particular one is solely determined by YOU. The winner is the band who gains the most votes by the end of the competition. If you all put in a vote at the link below before Friday at 5pm, we have a chance of a lifetime to become a Rock Hunt Finalist and gain immense recognition. Please listen to our music, favorite and repost our song “Loretta,” and vote for us at the link below:

Also, if you would like to hear more music from us, including our latest single “In the Interest of Time,” you can find all of our music at this link:

Please help us out! We need every single vote that we can get, and it’s up to you guys to help us win!

Sincerely,
Max, Noah, Zoe, and Cam

EAST GREENWICH  RUNNER UP FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR
AT OCEAN STATE “MARCH SMARTNESS” CONSUMER COMPETITION

MARCH 13, 2015 // RHODE ISLAND – A team of 5 teens from East Greenwich high school has placed second in the 2015 Rhode Island state LifeSmarts consumer competition nicknamed “March Smartness” in the Ocean State.

The East Greenwich team was edged out by just one point by Barrington in their bid to claim the Michaelson Consumers’ Cup and the chance to represent Rhode Island at the national LifeSmarts competition in Seattle, WA this April.  The state award is named after former Rhode Island Attorney General and consumer rights advocate Julius C. Michaelson.

The East Greenwich team is comprised of captain Charlotte Palmer, Zack Johnson, Wei Li, Matthew Wegrzyn, Julian Wu, and East Greenwich educator Patricia Page.  Johnson and Palmer are members of the @realEdRI student movement that spearheaded RI's  adoption of Personal Finance standards last fall. Page is the Rhode Island 2014 Teacher of the Year.

East Greenwich has placed second for the 2nd consecutive year in the state LifeSmarts competition.

Rhode Island LifeSmarts state coordinator, Jim Hedemark remarked, “If you like the intensity of ‘March Madness’ basketball, you’d love the buzzer-beating action of Rhode Island LifeSmarts ‘March Smartness’ as our champions won by only one point and our third-place team was only a point behind our runner-up team.”

Barrington won the 2015 consumer competition and North Smithfield took third, just one point behind East Greenwich.  North Providence placed fourth and Tolman took fifth.  Hedemark also mentioned, “The National Consumers League LifeSmarts program organizers tell me that all of our Rhode Island teenage teams placed among top scores across the United States.”

LifeSmarts is a consumer education program of the National Consumers League that teaches and rewards teenagers for their knowledge of personal finance, technology, environment, health and safety, and consumer rights and responsibilities.
