Mr. Rath's Entry in Samsung's "Solve for Tomorrow" is RI State Winner
Congratulations go out to Mr. Rath who was just announced as the Rhode Island State Winner in the "Samsung Solve for Tomorrow" contest. As the congratulatory email from Samsung states:
"Your entry was chosen for its innovative approach to advancing interest in STEM among your students as well as making an impact in your community.
Since you have been chosen as a State Winner, you have already earned a minimum of $20,000 in Samsung technology for your school.
You will now go on to represent your state in the national competition where we ask that you create a 2 – 3 minute video that brings your activity plan to life. For your efforts, you will have the opportunity to earn a larger technology package and a chance to present your story with other competing schools in New York City in March.
Your commitment to your students and school as well as to advancing STEM education is evident through the great work that you are doing. Once again, congratulations on being named a State Winner!"
A congratulatory video from Samsung can be seen here.
Congratulations and good luck in the Finals!

EGHS & Cole Triumphant at International Economic Summit
From Mrs. Page,
On December 3, 2015, a total of 12 student teams from East Greenwich High School (EGHS) and Cole Middle School (CMS) competed among 77 teams from across New England at the International Economics Summit held in Boston. This day-long trade summit, sponsored by the International Economic Summit Institute at Boise State University, tested students applied knowledge of geography, personal finance, current events, macro economics, foreign aid, and international trade. The 12 teams were challenged to apply real-time reasoning, analytical, and negotiation skills to meet quantifiable goals tied to elevating the standard of living for their respective country.
This was EGHS's second year participating and CMS's first outing. Last year, EGHS tied Boston Latin for first-place overall.
