Student Council Running Food Drive 2/2-2/25

Did you know that for some children in Rhode Island, school is the only reliable place they can count on receiving a meal?  On the weekends, these children have to sustain themselves on little to nothing until they return to school again on Monday. To combat this, some Rhode Island schools have their own food pantry where they fill a backpack every Friday to get the kids through the weekend. This ensures that they get a healthy meal every day, as every child should!

Next week EGHS Student Council will be hosting our yearly food drive to help fill the backpacks of these needy children. We ask that you give your son or daughter an item that they could bring to the food drive.

Items could include a box of lunch snacks such as granola bars or easy to prepare meals such as macaroni & cheese. A list of especially needed items will be provided to your child's second period classroom, and he or she will be provided with the opportunity of signing up to bring in these items. Your child can bring in these items to their period two class between Tuesday the 2nd and Thursday the 11th. We have placed a basket in every period 2 classroom.
