Letter From Parents of EGHS Graduate

Below is a wonderful email I had the pleasure of receiving yesterday from two EGHS parents.  I am pleased to pass it along, with permission, to the EGHS community.  Note: the original email has been edited to eliminate personal identifiers.

Hi Mr. Podraza,

We need to share some thoughts with you that our son, shared with us. [Our son] just finished his first semester at the University Of [...]. He had an excellent first semester both academically and socially.  When we asked [him] how finals were going and if he was doing alright; stressed or worried?  He said with confidence, that he felt good. He was ready and well prepared to take his first finals as a college student.  What he said next, is what I hope you share with your faculty.

He said "mom, a lot of my floor mates are really stressed, they have been all semester.  I really think what my HS teachers told me for years is true". He continued by telling me that he was told that EGHS was a special place where students are thoroughly prepared for college life.  The course load; curriculum; study habits and the experience to balance all of that has been enthusiastically taught to our children.  [He] told me when his teachers said 'you students are lucky to be in the East Greenwich School District, you are being well prepared for college', he really didn't believe them, but now those words are ringing back to him and he believes them fully.

Mr Podraza, not only are the skills of teachers, the resources they have and the attitudes they show important, but words that build confidence in their students as well as the students environment are all blessings and very much appreciated.

Thanks!!! to all those who taught our son...  Keep it up!!
