IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
RIDE Seeking Community Input on ESSA
As a member of Rhode Island Department of Education’s “Committee of Practitioners” I would like to invite you to a series of community forums that are being held across the State. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or would like to learn more.
From the Rhode Island Department of Education- As Rhode Island prepares to transition to the new federal education law – the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) – the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) will hold community forums in November to collect public feedback and input. These forums are the first of several important public engagement opportunities. RIDE encourages and welcomes you as public stakeholders to be critically involved in the decision-making process so that your experience may inform the ESSA state implementation plan.
Forums will be held at various locations on the following dates:
Wednesday, November 2, 2016- Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex – 182 Thurbers Avenue, Providence, Spanish language presentation available.
Wednesday, November 9, 2016- Lincoln Middle School – 152 Jenckes Hill Road, Lincoln
Monday, November 14, 2016- Coventry High School – 40 Reservoir Road, Coventry
Thursday, November 17, 2016- Portsmouth High school – 120 Education Lane, Portsmouth
Monday, November 21, 2016- South Kingstown High School – 215 Columbia Street, Wakefield

EGHS Blood Drive (Students)
East Greenwich High School Fall Blood Drive is Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 8 am – 2 pm in the Auditorium
Eligibility:
16 years old, weigh minimum 130 lbs, need parent permission slip signed. If misplaced, go to www.ribc.org
New this year: 17 and 18 years old, weigh minimum 110 lbs, no parent permission slip needed.
Must feel healthy on day of drive.
How best to prepare body for blood donation:
Drink plenty of water, starting day before.
Eat a good meal prior to donation.
No strenuous activity or heavy lifting after donating. Individual can resume normal activities the following day.
Any questions re: eligibility such as travel outside of U.S., medications, or tattoos/piercings, call 453-8307.

ADVANCED PLANNING
- 11-23 During Advisory- Career and Technical Schools visit EGHS to present their programming to all Freshmen during advisory.
