EGHS News and Information!

A weekly newsletter with information about upcoming events related to East Greenwich High School
EGHS Front Empower.png
In an effort to increase the dissemination of important information about upcoming events occurring at East Greenwich High School, I have created this newsletter which will be sent out to the EGHS school community once a week via the EGHS announcements email.
Also in an effort to not inundate your email inboxes, the EGHS main office will make every attempt to send only one email a day. It is our intention to have all announcements, information, links etc. in that email, so please review the daily email in it’s entirety so that opportunities are not overlooked.
Hope you find this a useful tool in navigating this school year.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
PARCC, PSATs, SATs Announcement- This year’s State budget provides an opportunity for all public high schools to participate in a school day offering of the PSAT and SAT. In addition to the tests being administered during the school day, we are also able to offer these tests at no charge for the following students: Sophomores PSAT on October 19th, and Juniors SAT on April 5th. Students in other grades may sign up to take these exams on these dates, however there are fees associated with these exams (amount is still to be determined).
While we are aware of the concerns many have about the amount of testing students have been faced with over the past few years, we are pleased that there is a significant reduction in the amount and scope of state testing (PARCC) occurring at the high school level this year. This year, PARCC testing is only required for 9th grade students in ELA and Mathematics, and for 10th grade students who have not yet taken a PARCC math assessment while in high school. The aforementioned sophomores will be required to take the Mathematics PARCC exam only. This change significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to administer PARCC and reduces or eliminates the amount of state testing for the vast majority of our sophomores.
Because we anticipate the majority of students who are eligible for these tests to take advantage of this opportunity, we plan to register all members of the East Greenwich High School Sophomore and Junior classes for the respective exams. If you do not want us to register your child to take the PSAT or the SAT on the aforementioned dates, please contact your child’s guidance counselor.

One final consequence of note-- due to EGHS offering the PSAT on October 19th, we will no longer be able to offer the national Saturday test date of October 15.

Should you have any questions about the administration of PARCC, PSATs and/or SATs please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Reminder- PTG Membership and Directory- A reminder to please register for the East Greenwich High School PTG membership and to update directory information via these online forms:
