Vice President of EG Town Council Salutes EGHS Students' Roll in "Relay for Life"

It is always a honor to receive emails that salute our students' efforts and the high character they routinely demonstrate both inside and outside of our school community. It is in this vein that I share the following email with permission:

I just want to let you know how incredibly proud I am of the East Greenwich students who organized the relay for Life at EGHS on Saturday April 30,2016. The students obviously spent an enormous amount of time organizing, fundraising, and running the event on Saturday.  Emma Schambers should be commended for her vision for bringing such an important event to the East Greenwich community. Additionally, it was amazing to see other students supporting the event by attending after their sporting events and other activities on Saturday, as well as past and present faculty members.

The students did a tremendous job of leaving the high school field is beautiful condition at the conclusion of the event Saturday night.  I hope the EGHS students will continue to run this event year after year, as these seniors raised over $20,000 for the American Cancer Society in the inaugural year of the East Greenwich event, a very impressive amount of money for high school seniors.

Please send my congratulations to all the students who participated in the event, most particularly Emma for her display of character. The entire East Greenwich community is fortunate to have students such as these representing our community.

Best Regards,
Sue Cienki
Vice President East Greenwich Town Council
