Social Studies Department Partners With Global Rhode Island and the Brown University Watson Institute

From Mrs. Shaw-

The East Greenwich High School Social Studies department has partnered with Global Rhode Island and the Brown University Watson Institute for International Studies to implement curriculum that features student-driven deliberation on historical and contemporary issues. Global RI works with social studies teachers from around the state and is committed to fostering a community of teachers that engage their students in global issues and at the same time hone their tools of best practice. As part of that mission, Global RI invited fellow EGHS faculty member Ben Revkin to share his wisdom on practical ways to apply technology in a social studies classroom. Mr. Revkin joined our professional development via video conferencing, and his session was a success. Teachers left his session with new tools in hand, and it sparked further sharing throughout the day.

As social studies teachers who participate in the program, it was a point of pride to see interdisciplinary collaboration in action coming from one of our own EGHS leaders. A special thanks to Mr. Revkin for sharing his passion for technology in a user-friendly way and for generously donating his time.
