College Planning Night Thursday 2/1

The EGHS Guidance Department will host its annual College Planning Night on Thursday, February 1st from 6:30 - 8:00 in the high school auditorium. This informative evening is open to all parents and students who are interested in the college admissions process.  In the past this evening has proven to be both informative and entertaining as the speaker points out what not to do, as well as how to systematically approach and navigate this sometimes overwhelming process. Please contact the EGHS Guidance Department if you have any questions.

Reminder- Parent & Guardian SurveyWorks for EGHS is Now Open

The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently administering its yearly SurveyWorks Parent Survey, which is an opportunity for parents to provide feedback about our school and our children’s opportunities to learn.  The survey results are most useful when all parents participate, so I am writing to ask you to participate in this survey.
Your views on matters like the safety of your child at school, the way students are taught, the condition of the school, and how connected you feel to this school are important. By taking this short survey you can help our school community make improvements. Responses are anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual.
You can take the short survey online between January 16th and March 30th. To take the survey, visit: surveys.panoramaed.com/ride and enter 09106family in the box provided.  If you don’t have access to the Internet, please contact the school to access a paper survey.
I thank you in advance for your help and input.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“New research about the intense pressure young women face to share nude photos of themselves is raising questions about how we address some of the norms that have taken hold among today's teenagers.” How to change teen sexting culture: "Don't ask for nude photos"
Thank you to everyone who helped to make our early Senior Project Presentations such a success last week. It truly takes a full community effort to make such valuable learning experiences take place. Thank you for all of your help.
